    It is important for individuals to know where they are going, how they plan to get there and what may prevent all of this from happening. Whether an executive, entry-level employee, small or large business owner; or anything in-between; having a plan is imperative.

    The importance of planning ahead is multifold. One benefit is that you will be confronted with the question of, “where do I want to go?” It’s an important question that should not be overlooked. If you have no destination, then it doesn’t matter where you go. If it doesn’t matter where you go, then you will eventually stop walking as lying around is more comfortable. But, if it does matter, than the plan to get there is even more important. We don’t travel to any destination without having a plan (albeit, directions) to get there. We anticipate traffic, alternate routes, and the time it takes you to get from where you are, to where you intend to be. Very rarely do we pick up and go without any idea of how to get there.

    As such, once you start writing down what you want to achieve, you will drastically increase your chances of becoming the leader you want to be. Whenever you commit yourself to thorough planning of realistic goals, you will always manage to achieve what you want accomplish.

    The importance of planning is further highlighted by scientific research, which has shown that writing down goals increases your chances of success.
